Class C Misdemeanor Range of Punishment - Texas Penal Code
§ 12.23. CLASS C MISDEMEANOR.
An individual adjudged guilty of a Class C misdemeanor shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500.

is a class c misdemenor for a MIP in Texas a criminal or civil offense. Did community service and now I am an adult 6 years later. i am being asked on a teachers application if i had a judification criminal action. Do not know whether to put it on there or not
Received a misdemeanor c citation,theft less than $50.00.Went to the courthouse and asked the clerk to schedule a day to meet with DA and to plead not guilty. Date is set for June 17.Will I need a need a lawyer to speak to the DA,I have a clean record and will tell him how bad I feel and what a bad mistake this has been. Will any one from the store or the officer be at that meeting? Thank you for your response.SR
Received a misdemeanour C citation for shoplifting less than $20. In the store I admitted guilty. Should I go to court and plead with judge to write it off (I have a clean record and am a well to do businessperson)? Or should I pay the fine and have it go on my record? Appreciate your advise.

I am being taken to court by my sons school for "failure to attend school". He failed to turn in excuses for his absences so the number ot absensed are over the # that is permitted. I want to know what the punishment is if my husband and I are not able to pay the $500.00 fine? The school told me that I would be sentenced to jail time if we can not pay. Is this true and if so how long will I have to be in jail?
